Why Cheap Acai Could Cost You Lots!

So it seems an absolute bargain acai buy, but is it really? Unfortunately, probably not, as cheap acai is likely to be very low quality and actually cost you more than a regular priced product.

It's really confusing isn't it. You read or heard about Acai and would like to try it out, but there seems to hundreds of web sites all making fantastic claims about their product. Plus, the prices can vary from £10 to £40 a bottle!

Here are a few ways you can tell if that bargain really is a bargain:

1. Is it an extract? Should be easy to work out, as it will be printed on the supplement facts label, and ingredients details. If not ask the company.

As we explained in this article "Acai Processing and Quality", an extract is generally giving you a quarter of the final amount. So for example a 500mg capsule of 500mg Acai extract is actually only giving you 125mg.

Knowing how much you are getting for your money is a really easy way to compare products.

2. Is it freeze-dried? If you clicked the link to the acai processing and quality article above you will have read about how acai can be processed. Freeze-dried acai guarantees the most nutritional content. If it's not freeze-dried, you should be paying half the price of freeze dried (though really, you should be avoiding it).

3. How much are you getting? Seems obvious, but some products have 30 capsules, some 60, some 120. Check how much you are getting before you decide it's good value.

4. Free Trials. Avoid all free trials. We haven't seen a single genuine free trial. They all have hidden in the small print of their terms something like "we will bill you in 14 days if you do not cancel" ... and trying to cancel can be impossible.

5. Affiliate web sites. Hard to spot, and perfectly legal, though costs you more. There are many companies that offer affiliation programs. Other web site owners sign up as 'affiliates" to promote their products for a commission on all sales. Absolutely nothing wrong with it. The problem is buying from that web site is going to cost you more, as commission has to be paid to the web site that directed you there. We know of some top acai sites (who sell similar products to ours) who pay their affiliates £10 a bottle commission - £10 you don't have to pay if you buy elsewhere). (Oh, we do not use affiliates).

6. Fake Acai Review web sites. We really hate these. They pretend to be a review site, comparing different acai products to give you an independent guide to the best product. The truth is that they are affiliates, earning commissions on all the products they are 'reviewing'. The simplest thing is to always avoid any recommendation from these sites. It's easy enough to tell if they are doing this ... watch how the links in the white bar at the top of your browser changes ... you'll see terms like "aff", "id", "ref" appearing.

So how much should you be paying for acai?

For the best quality freeze-dried acai, full powder 500mg capsules, 120 vegetarian capsules per bottle, anything from £19 to £24 for a single bottle. It's hard making any kind of guide price though. Different companies have different overheads, have different business plans etc. But if you use those prices as a guide, along with checking the supplement label facts panel, you shouldn't go wrong.
